1. Sell a product or service you deliver
Instagram can introduce people to a product or service, but the business model still needs a clear offer, a viable price and reliable delivery. Start with a specific customer problem. Publish a demonstration or explanation that helps someone decide whether the offer fits, then provide a straightforward route to enquire or purchase.
For example, a photographer might show the preparation and finished output of a product shoot, explain what a booking includes and link to an enquiry page. Measure suitable enquiries and paid bookings separately. Follower growth alone cannot show whether the offer is commercially useful.
2. Work with brands on defined deliverables
A collaboration needs a scope: the content you will create, where it will appear, who approves it, how it may be reused and when payment is due. Prepare a portfolio around the audience and work you can demonstrate. Avoid quoting an expected sales result you cannot substantiate.
Record production time, direct costs and the payment actually received so you can assess profitability. Make the commercial relationship clear to your audience and check the applicable platform tools and disclosure requirements before publication. This article does not provide a legal checklist or promise that a brand will sponsor your account.
3. Refer people to relevant offers
Affiliate referrals connect useful content with another business's offer. Assess the product and programme terms before recommending it, and explain when you may earn a commission. A relevant comparison or worked example is more useful than inserting a purchase link into every post.
Keep clicks, reported commissions and settled payments separate in your records. Returns, attribution rules and payment conditions can affect what you receive. Choose a model you can maintain without compromising the usefulness of your content; none of these routes guarantees income or requires treating a follower count as revenue.
