Choose a decision the poll can support
A two-option poll is useful for a narrow preference, knowledge check, or conversation starter. It cannot measure every reason behind a choice. Start with the decision: which tutorial to publish first, whether viewers recognize a misconception, or which event time deserves deeper validation. Avoid asking a poll to determine high-stakes policy, product safety, or representative public opinion. Respondents are people who saw the Story and chose to tap, not a random sample of the market.
Write options that do not manipulate
Both choices should be clear, mutually understandable, and free of ridicule. “Yes, I care” versus “No, I hate quality” produces activity but no trustworthy information. Add context on a preceding frame when the question requires a definition. A coffee roaster choosing an educational topic might ask “grind size” or “water temperature,” then use a question sticker for missing topics. If more than two answers are plausible, acknowledge that the poll is only a forced choice and invite nuance separately.
Turn the result into a useful follow-up
Share what the account learned without exposing individual voters. If water temperature wins, publish that explanation first and state that the poll guided sequence, not that it proved universal demand. Answer the losing option later so minority interests are not erased. Keep a note of views, votes, question wording, and audience context. A follow-up can also correct a widespread mistaken answer, provided the explanation is respectful and supported rather than framed as a trick designed to embarrass participants.
Know the measurement limit
Poll taps may increase visible interaction, but a higher tap count does not establish deeper loyalty or commercial intent. Compare whether the follow-up receives relevant questions, saves, or destination actions appropriate to its purpose. Feature availability and controls can vary by account, device, and region. Check the current app and official guidance before building a campaign around a sticker. Use polls occasionally when a binary question helps; repeated low-value voting prompts can train viewers to skip rather than converse.
